Many suppliers and then companies are offering 100% compostable products that are actually made from nylon, polyester and PLA. These products are sold as biodegradable bamboo charcoal floss or bamboo charcoal bristle toothbrushes, but do not be fooled. These products are not made from 100% bamboo fiber and contain around 70% (likely more) nylon or PLA. I found this out when searching suppliers for a biodegradable and compostable floss. These suppliers mislead companies, who then mislead their customers as they are sitting on likely 1000s of fake compostable products.  So, let's get into the PLA hype and why natural materials...

Despite plastic bag bans and other "efforts" the amount of plastic waste produced globally is set to almost triple by 2060!  Where will it all go? About half goes to the usual spot i.e. in landfills and a paltry 1/5 of it will be recycled, according to a new OECD report. People it is time for radical change and radical innovation too. It is fantastic to hear about plastic eating microbes, enzymes and even worms, but those solutions are a drop in the plastic pollution bucket and perhaps decades away at best.
