International Plastic Free Day was founded by Free The Ocean as an initiative to stop plastic polluting our oceans.
You might think do we really need another plastic-free day? Well, I agree we really shouldn't, but as this problem is so massive more awareness can't be bad.
This plastic-free initiative is observed on May 25th and urges individuals to take a stand against single-use plastic for one day.
Boar bristle toothbrushes have been around for centuries and are making a comeback as people become more environmentally conscious. The bamboo and boar bristles are sourced in China which is the largest producer of these types of bristles, not to mention bamboo too. The bristles are sterilized with hot water and do not cause any harm to the animal. These bristles are used in a lot of different brushes and are generally a byproduct of the meat industry. This is truly zero waste as it makes wise use of organic waste that would have otherwise generated methane in a landfill, or CO2 in an incinerator.
How Companies Are Misleading Consumers About PLA Products: Why Natural Materials Like Silk and Compressed Vegetable Waste (Bagasse) Would Be Better
Many suppliers and then companies are offering 100% compostable products that are actually made from nylon, polyester and PLA. These products are sold as biodegradable bamboo charcoal floss or bamboo charcoal bristle toothbrushes, but do not be fooled. These products are not made from 100% bamboo fiber and contain around 70% (likely more) nylon or PLA. I found this out when searching suppliers for a biodegradable and compostable floss. These suppliers mislead companies, who then mislead their customers as they are sitting on likely 1000s of fake compostable products. So, let's get into the PLA hype and why natural materials...
Environmental toxins could be linked to the surge in neurological disorders, like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. Leading neurologists and neuroscientists are still working to fill scientific holes in our understanding of environmental toxins. However, many doctors warn that microplastics could cause dementia and be linked to other brain disorders. We know that air pollution, pesticides, microplastics, forever chemicals are far from good for us. However, what role they play in common diseases like dementia and childhood developmental disorders still need more research. We are bombarded with a staggering 80,000+ toxic chemicals in our daily life. This certainly adds to the...
